On May 13, 2015, the two JPIs FACCE and HDHL will host "Grand debate on Nutrition Security – a whole system approach: A joint JPI FACCE – JPI HDHL EVENT on the impact of climate change on providing a sustainable food supply that has the nutritional requirements to ensure a healthy population".
One of the greatest challenges of the 21st century is on providing food and nutrition security while dealing with climate change. Often the focus of the debate and research is limited to food security alone – however access to food and the consumption of safe and nutritious food are important aspects of this challenge that require attention.
The aim of the event is to bring together approximately100 leading researchers, policy makers and politicians to:
- Facilitate a dialogue between international and national stakeholders to deepen our understanding of the challenge we are facing in providing future generations with a sustainable and nutritious food supply thereby ensuring a healthy population.
- Identify the role that both JPIs and their MS can play in tackling this societal challenge through the articulation of the research questions that should be addressed both individually and collaboratively by the JPIs.
The structure of the event will be built around two interactive panel discussions which will focus on all aspects of food and nutrition security. Through engagement with the audience and web streaming with over 20 countries, the insights of a large community will be achieved. Please refer to the programme attached to this invitation for further details.
This event is being held at EXPO Milano 2015 in Milan on the 13th of May 2015. The Grand Debate, supported by the European Commission, will focus on the impact of climate change on providing a sustainable food supply that has the nutritional requirements to ensure a healthy population.
